Daily News Brief

So, let's see what's in the news shall we?

>>>U.S. District Judge Ricardo M. Urbina pissed in the eye of Washington D.C. citizens this week by upholding the draconian regulations the district put in place after the Heller gun rights case. According to the Weekly Standard article:

" took “$833.69, a total of 15 hours 50 minutes, four trips to the Metropolitan Police Department, two background checks, a set of fingerprints, a five-hour class and a 20-question multiple-choice exam” to possess legally a handgun in Washington D.C.
And one must travel outside the District to purchase a gun and then pay $125 dollars to have the city's only licensed firearm dealer transport it in for you. Also, registered guns must be kept unloaded and either disassembled or locked with a trigger-lock."

>>>The grand Ayatollah of progressive liberalism, BH Obama has proposed a major expansion of off-shore drilling. Although his initiative only covers a tiny portion of the available off-shore resources, it is a step in the right direction. If he keeps it up, I'll have to start using two hands to count the number of things he's done right so far...
(Side Note: Listening to Obama give the announcement of this plan made me wish I had founded a company that markets in "straw man" arguments. If I had this would probably be a dot com, instead of a lowly blog...)

>>>If you've been following the looming battle over Internet controls, (I.E. "net Neutrality) you should spend some time over here.
By cloaking this argument in the false idea that net neutrality will ensure a "free and open" Internet, many have been sucked into the wrong side of this argument. Readers should note that Google is one of the biggest backers of the plan.
To put it in non-Internet terms, would you agree that a BP gas station should be forced to allow a Marathon gas station to place it's pumps in BP's lot? Net neutrality is truly a solution in search of a problem....

>>>Look, we all know that the real racists, haters, and dirt bags in general reside over on the left side of the nation. Here's a good article illustrating some of the more graphic and violent things lefty's have publicly stated.

>>>Charles Krauthammer, in my opinion one of the most intelligent men in the country, has an outstanding article about how Obama-care will eventually be paid for.
It reads in part:

"It's the ultimate cash cow. Obama will need it. By introducing universal health care, he has pulled off the largest expansion of the welfare state in four decades. And the most expensive. Which is why all of the European Union has the VAT. Huge VATs. Germany: 19 percent. France and Italy: 20 percent. Most of Scandinavia: 25 percent."

I've said it before, I'll say it again, Krauthammer and Brit Hume, all day on the news everywhere.
Read the entire article over at the Washington Compost.

>>>Islamo-fascist's detonated a series of bombs in Russia the other day, killing almost forty people. Russia has suffered a series of major terrorist attacks over the last couple of years. It hard to believe that a totalitarian like Putin can't stamp out these cockroaches, but then again, maybe he doesn't want to.
(Update This just over the news wire. Apparently 12 people have been killed in another bombing in southern Russia.

>>>An American rancher was found shot to death by Mexican insurgents after the rancher, Robert Krentz, radioed his brother and said he was going to provide water for a border jumper he encountered on his property. John McCain, in the midst of a blistering challenge to his Senate seat fired of a letter to the DHS head. On a related note, the "Virtual Border Fence" has been scrapped.

>>>On the economic front, manufacturing was down, unemployment was up and Friday's overall unemployment report is widely believed to stay at 9.7%, which means it will probably be over that.

That is all.
