Not A Bad Start To The Week

Looks like we've reached a tentative tax agreement. Funny thing, turned on the business news this morning, like I always do, and saw all 'green' instead of the mostly 'red' I'm used to seeing with breakfast. Wonder if there's any correlation between the two?

Top that off with the news early this morning that everyone's favorite fighter for "truth and openness" is in custody in the UK, and I can say that this has been one of the more pleasant 24 hour periods I've had in awhile.

Of course, being the superstitious fool that I am, and not wanting to jinx myself, I've decided to toss in a little bad news to even things out. Ladies and gentlemen, the "Worst jobs graph ever"!

Staring Bradley Manning As Ephialtes

"Treason is a crime under federal and some state laws. Treason is made a high crime, punishable by death, under federal law by Article III, section 3 of the U.S. Constitution: "Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort."

Treason requires overt acts such as giving sensitive government security secrets to other countries, even if such countries are not enemies. Treason can include spying on behalf of a foreign power or divulging military secrets. (http://definitions.uslegal.com/t/treason)

Treason. Period. It doesn't matter what this boy's "moral compass" told him to do. There is blood, and a lot of it, on his hands. In light of the most recent document dump by the snaggle-toothed albino at wikileaks, I would be willing to bet that at the moment I am typing this, there are people, (and their families) who help America in the Middle East,  who are being hunted down and executed by the bad guys.

But none of that matters right? After all, some kid, not even old enough to buy a beer, had the insight, the moral authority, to commit what may well be the biggest act of treason in American history.

(Edit: Comments still aren't working correctly so my rebuttal to the anon who posted follows:

"...paranoid fantasy, lies and fear-mongering of Philo."

Put you're money where your mouth is. Lied about what? The fact that this could even happen should cause fear. But I digress. You can believe what you will. The bottom line is that this asshole stole the information, and then passed it on to unauthorized parties, which then disseminated it to anyone with an Internet connection.

FYI: Editorial error in use of quotes aside,  (now fixed) the second half is the break down of what may constitute an act of treason. (Source link below.)

By his own admission in conversations with Adrian Lamo, he gave sensitive government security secrets to other countries via the whistle blower site wikileaks.

So in the end what we have here is you, just another "Anon" interwebs shit-talker. And one without a clue to boot. Thanks for stopping by.

The New Imperialism

If you believe that terrorists have US domestic legal rights, you must, by logical extension, believe that the US has the right to enforce its own domestic laws on foreign peoples, in foreign lands. This is of course, the very cornerstone of imperialism, and as such contradicts the entirety of US (And English common law) legal precedent.

"Judge A. Raymond Randolph spoke military detentions and trials, focusing primarily on recent Guantanamo Bay detainee’s trials. He argued that detainees did not have the right to habeas corpus and talked about his judicial decision that overturned a district court granting a Yememi man freedom and the right to habeas corpus."

(It's an hour long, but worth every minute. Judge Randolph's sound, logical dissection of the Steven's Courts GITMO decision is powerful to say the least.)

Michigan, Again.

Sunset Along The Eastern Shores Of Lake Michigan
Many times I have left this state in search of greener pastures. Although admittedly, not in many years. Wife, children, and property ownership tend to settle a man down, anchor him in one place. Not that I'm complaining. In fact this 'domestication' over the last several years has tempered some of the, shall we say, rougher aspects of my personality.

Being here of late is a kind of continuous de-javu. See, when I was just a little Philo, stealing my Dad's beer's off the picknick table and running the streets of the trailer park, things were much like they are now. There was no work. No one had any money. Mom's worked gardens, and Dad's, well Dad's were often gone for six months or more out of state for work. I don't know if the houses were empty, but the trailers sure as hell weren't. There's little mobility for people who can't afford to keep the propane tank full.

Looking around this small slice Earth that I can call my own, I'm saddened by the realization that my children are growing up in a similar environment, (economically that is) that I did. We have lot's of neighbors where Dad's out of state for months at a time working. The food banks have long run dry. Even the churches have stopped their weekly advertisements for food and clothing. But we survive. We look out for each other. And life isn't so bad for us as it is for many.

Still, I listen for some inspiring speech, or ad, heralding the arrival of just the right kind of leader. "It's morning in America..." That gave me goosebumps even as a kid. I didn't know the Republic from a roll of quarters, but I knew, I felt, that it was right and good and that there was hope, if we just held the line a little longer.

I don't hear that now. Maybe I don't have the right kind of ears to hear it anymore. Maybe it's just not true anymore. Maybe the time just isn't right.  And that has planted a seed in my head. A thought that's been churning there all day. Maybe it's a quote from some text long forgotten. Maybe it's a revelation. Maybe it's just a truth that anyone who's willing to be honest with themselves can see:

"Of the Republic's greatness,
There can be no doubt.
But whom here can truly say,
It is her sunrise at which we marvel,
And not her sunset?"

Tuebor,

A Republic By Any Other Name....

So, a long, slow, and nasty period here at The Republic appears to be fading. A time most obviously associated with a profound lack of writing, and finally taken to the logic conclusion of blog neglect: I forgot The Republic's password. Please hold your chuckles till the end.

Of course, I never intended to abandon this little corner of the Ether. In fact, I've spent a good deal of time over the last month or so playing around with the various passwords I have used for both this blog and my Gmail account (also forgotten).

But today I had an epiphany, which often happens if I let something rot in my brain-bucket long enough. So here we are again, you and I, and The Republic. I aim to do some serious writing on here. Sometimes daily little observations, sometimes big pieces.

Thanks to those of you who have not forgotten this place, and have continues to check in over the last couple months. I wish the interwebs were a different place, one where I could explain the reasons behind my prolonged neglect. But it is not. Suffice it to say, those of you, who like I, are fathers and husbands would understand completely. Of that I assure you.

Now, there is much to be done.

Tuebor,
Philo

Eureka!

I've done it. I finally cracked my own pitiful password and regained control of this little corner of the interwebs. Posts soon to follow.

Philo Has A Revelation, Pats Self On The Back

Recently, while perusing the stat-counter for this blog, I made a discovery that actually put a smile on my face. By far the most viewed post I've written here at RtR is the one on America, Mexico, and the American Southwest. More people have hit that page than any other two posts combined. People from dozens of counties, numerous states, and various government agencies have spent time sifting through the piece, which I wrote at the height of the Arizona immigration fight.

The purpose of the post was to share some information on the various things that took place before, during, and after the acquisition of what we now call the Southwestern United States. I'll be the first to admit that despite fancying myself as something of a history buff, I was floored by how much I didn't know while doing the research. The Mexican government forced settlers to learn how to speak Spanish and required all official business to be written in Spanish? Kind of interesting considering the push-back one often gets at the mere mention of making English the official language of the US. Or how about the fact that settlers, in return for land grants, had to convert to Catholicism by order of the Mexican government? Bet you didn't know that little ditty did ya? I certainly didn't.
Now, back to my stat-counter revelation.  It's not just that it's my most viewed writing here, it's who makes up the vast majority of the readers: people using school networks. Teachers and students in schools from California to New York, Florida to Oregon have read those facts, which we all know are not taught to our children anymore. That information, which has been so horribly skewed, ignored, twisted, or just plain forgotten is being accessed at the one place were it should be widely available, but is in reality almost completely absent. And that realization made me smile.

Lefty Environmentlist Takes Hostages

(Edit: This post has been edited for content as information on the event became more available.)

Negotiations are on going after a lefty wing-nut environmentalist took hostages at the Discovery Channel's headquarters today. The man is armed with at least one gun and apparently has a bomb strapped to his body. I am still trying to find a "legitimate", "Main stream" news organization that has openly called out the fact that this guy is a left-wing lunatic. One has to wonder if they would show the same restraint if he had should up with a list of demands falling along the same lines as right-leaning ideology...

His list of demands are below:

The Discovery Channel MUST broadcast to the world their commitment to save the planet and to do the following IMMEDIATELY:

1. The Discovery Channel and it's affiliate channels MUST have daily television programs at prime time slots based on Daniel Quinn's "My Ishmael" pages 207-212 where solutions to save the planet would be done in the same way as the Industrial Revolution was done, by people building on each other's inventive ideas. Focus must be given on how people can live WITHOUT giving birth to more filthy human children since those new additions continue pollution and are pollution. A game show format contest would be in order. Perhaps also forums of leading scientists who understand and agree with the Malthus-Darwin science and the problem of human overpopulation. Do both. Do all until something WORKS and the natural world starts improving and human civilization building STOPS and is reversed! MAKE IT INTERESTING SO PEOPLE WATCH AND APPLY SOLUTIONS!!!!

2. All programs on Discovery Health-TLC must stop encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants and the false heroics behind those actions. In those programs' places, programs encouraging human sterilization and infertility must be pushed. All former pro-birth programs must now push in the direction of stopping human birth, not encouraging it.

3. All programs promoting War and the technology behind those must cease. There is no sense in advertising weapons of mass-destruction anymore. Instead, talk about ways to disassemble civilization and concentrate the message in finding SOLUTIONS to solving global military mechanized conflict. Again, solutions solutions instead of just repeating the same old wars with newer weapons. Also, keep out the fraudulent peace movements. They are liars and fakes and had no real intention of ending the wars. ALL OF THEM ARE FAKE! On one hand, they claim they want the wars to end, on the other, they are demanding the human population increase. World War II had 2 Billion humans and after that war, the people decided that tripling the population would assure peace. WTF??? STUPIDITY! MORE HUMANS EQUALS MORE WAR!

4. Civilization must be exposed for the filth it is. That, and all its disgusting religious-cultural roots and greed. Broadcast this message until the pollution in the planet is reversed and the human population goes down! This is your obligation. If you think it isn't, then get hell off the planet! Breathe Oil! It is the moral obligation of everyone living otherwise what good are they??

5. Immigration: Programs must be developed to find solutions to stopping ALL immigration pollution and the anchor baby filth that follows that. Find solutions to stopping it. Call for people in the world to develop solutions to stop it completely and permanently. Find solutions FOR these countries so they stop sending their breeding populations to the US and the world to seek jobs and therefore breed more unwanted pollution babies. FIND SOLUTIONS FOR THEM TO STOP THEIR HUMAN GROWTH AND THE EXPORTATION OF THAT DISGUSTING FILTH! (The first world is feeding the population growth of the Third World and those human families are going to where the food is! They must stop procreating new humans looking for nonexistant jobs!)

6. Find solutions for Global Warming, Automotive pollution, International Trade, factory pollution, and the whole blasted human economy. Find ways so that people don't build more housing pollution which destroys the environment to make way for more human filth! Find solutions so that people stop breeding as well as stopping using Oil in order to REVERSE Global warming and the destruction of the planet!

7. Develop shows that mention the Malthusian sciences about how food production leads to the overpopulation of the Human race. Talk about Evolution. Talk about Malthus and Darwin until it sinks into the stupid people's brains until they get it!!

8. Saving the Planet means saving what's left of the non-human Wildlife by decreasing the Human population. That means stopping the human race from breeding any more disgusting human babies! You're the media, you can reach enough people. It's your resposibility because you reach so many minds!!!

9. Develop shows that will correct and dismantle the dangerous US world economy. Find solutions for their disasterous Ponzi-Casino economy before they take the world to another nuclear war.

10. Stop all shows glorifying human birthing on all your channels and on TLC. Stop Future Weapons shows or replace the dialogue condemning the people behind these developments so that the shows become exposes rather than advertisements of Arms sales and development!

11. You're also going to find solutions for unemployment and housing. All these unemployed people makes me think the US is headed toward more war.

Humans are the most destructive, filthy, pollutive creatures around and are wrecking what's left of the planet with their false morals and breeding culture.

For every human born, ACRES of wildlife forests must be turned into farmland in order to feed that new addition over the course of 60 to 100 YEARS of that new human's lifespan! THIS IS AT THE EXPENSE OF THE FOREST CREATURES!!!! All human procreation and farming must cease!

It is the responsiblity of everyone to preserve the planet they live on by not breeding any more children who will continue their filthy practices. Children represent FUTURE catastrophic pollution whereas their parents are current pollution. NO MORE BABIES! Population growth is a real crisis. Even one child born in the US will use 30 to a thousand times more resources than a Third World child. It's like a couple are having 30 babies even though it's just one! If the US goes in this direction maybe other countries will too!

Also, war must be halted. Not because it's morally wrong, but because of the catastrophic environmental damage modern weapons cause to other creatures. FIND SOLUTIONS JUST LIKE THE BOOK SAYS! Humans are supposed to be inventive. INVENT, DAMN YOU!!

The world needs TV shows that DEVELOP solutions to the problems that humans are causing, not stupify the people into destroying the world. Not encouraging them to breed more environmentally harmful humans.

Saving the environment and the remaning species diversity of the planet is now your mindset. Nothing is more important than saving them. The Lions, Tigers, Giraffes, Elephants, Froggies, Turtles, Apes, Raccoons, Beetles, Ants, Sharks, Bears, and, of course, the Squirrels.

The humans? The planet does not need humans.

You MUST KNOW the human population is behind all the pollution and problems in the world, and YET you encourage the exact opposite instead of discouraging human growth and procreation. Surely you MUST ALREADY KNOW this!

I want Discovery Communications to broadcast on their channels to the world their new program lineup and I want proof they are doing so. I want the new shows started by asking the public for inventive solution ideas to save the planet and the remaining wildlife on it.

These are the demands and sayings of Lee.

Thanks To The Business Insider for finding and posting the demands.

Islam: Not Just Any Old Religion

The most profound mistake Americans make when dealing with islam is that they view it in the same light that they view every other religion. It is not a religion in the classical sense. It is much  more than just a religion. It is a religious, social, economic, and militant geo-political power cult. Until we in America began to
view it in its true context, we will continue to be washed away by the wave of islamo-fascism which is once again attempting to drown the free and open societies of the west.

That tsunami has already crashed down upon Europe. The weak and corrupt social experiments in countries across the continent have proved incapable of preserving traditional societies. Most of Europe has been swamped by the relentless wave, with a few pockets of resistance devolving into open street warfare. Denmark, France, the UK,  all have succumbed to one extent or another to the flood of islamo-fascism; voluntarily changing their societies in fundamental ways in a failed attempt to integrate moslems. The UK has separate court systems for moslems, France suffers through violent street riots, Denmark watches entire neighborhoods become war zones, with violent clashes and day light shoot-outs between moslem groups and locals. It has devolved to the point where drawing a comic sets of bloody riots around the world; embassies torched, dozens killed. And still, wrapped in the warm blanket of "multiculturalism", Western governments refuse to even speak the name of our enemy. Why fight, when it's so much easier to submit?

I once knew a few members of a local motorcycle club. They were all violent crooks. They would plot and plan various criminal acts, and when one or a few of them were caught, they would claim that they acted alone. The motorcycle gang had nothing to do with it. "We're just a group of people with an interest in motorcycles..." they would say.  They cops knew its was BS. The courts knew it was BS. The gang knew it was BS. But they "gamed" the system and carried on with their activities.
This is the same thing islam does. They "game" the system. Under the guise of "religion" they infiltrate societies and use the tolerance and openness of that society against itself. What islam has been unable to do with sword and spear, it has been largely able to accomplish through manipulation., using violence when necessary but often getting more done through subversion.

We all need to have a better understanding of islam. A true understanding, of its history, its teachings, and its intent. Not the "understanding" of islam fed to us be the sycophant zombie media.  Islam is one of the most intolerant forces in the world today.  We in the West stand for freedom for everyone. We always have. If we intend to continue to defend freedom and liberty, we must be vigilant in our fight against intolerance and tyranny, even when it's hidden under the guise of a "religion".

Below are posts to a site that gives a very thorough and in depth explanation of islam. I strongly suggest that you read the information. Know it, understand it, and spread the understanding around.

It is possible to live in an society where moslems can freely and openly practice islam. It is impossible to do so if we refuse to recognize and confront it when it raises its radical head.

911 Mosque

This is really kind of a no brainier isn't it? If moslems really wanted to build bridges, they would come out publicly and declare that due to the overwhelming response, they will build elsewhere.

Now listen up and listen close. My views on freedom and liberty are pretty clear. But islam is not a religion in the way that we classically view religion in this country. It's more akin to geo-political power cult.

Let's assume that it's not islamic fundamentalism that the west, (and most of the rest of the world it seems) is in constant conflict with. In fact, lets replace "islam" and "moslem" with something else, say, "Catholicism" and "Catholics" . Let's say it's Catholics who strap on bombs and blow themselves up all over the world, saw people's heads off, stone people to death, etc.

Let's say it was 19 Catholics who hijacked those planes and now want to build a church there. Still a problem? Absolutely. Because in this case, it's not about religious tolerance. It's about cultural will. Do we have the will to stand up and say, "This is an obvious fuck you. We're not gonna let it slide?"

Uhg, What A Loser

Speaking of myself of course. Seems I've been in a writing slump the last couple months. Being busy isn't excuse enough. Fact is, I just haven't felt much like writing anything.

That being said, There is always the nagging little tingle in the back of my brain-case, a constant reminder that I need to post something on here. (How can one not, with all that's going on?) So I'm taking that as a good sign. Hopefully soon it will bother me enough that I'll clear a few hours on my calendar one Sunday afternoon, and write another historical piece. The American Southwest/Mexican history piece seems to get a lot of hits, so maybe that is the right direction to go in.

What do you guys think? What historical subject would you like to see something written on?

On a side note, are any of you guys sci-fi fans? Do you like to read? I recently played through Metro 2033 on the ole' Xbox 360. The game was so good I've been searching for the supposedly free English translation of the book by Dmitry Glukhovsky online. If any of you have read it, or know where one can find the online version, please, please drop me a line.

Happy Birthday

To My Beloved America. The Greatest Nation In The History Of Human Civilization.

"But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever."
~John Adams, letter to Abigail Adams, July 17, 1775

Indeed it is. Much work have we to do.

Hot Damn!

I just noticed that Philo's Restore the Republic hit another milestone: 3,000 hits. That's not much by most folk's standards, but it's cool to me. I've really enjoyed having a place where I can say my piece, a virtual soapbox, and the connections said soapbox has provided. There's something very gratifying about being able to speak openly and freely, and in a medium that allows you to communicate with people around the world. (Now, if I can just get a couple resident trolls, I'll know I've hit the big leagues...)

I think now more than ever it is important for people to stand up and speak loudly, clearly, and forcibly if necessary, about how unique and wonderful our Republic is. We need to do so on the interwebs, at our jobs, with our friends and neighbors. This generation is starting to realize what happens when we stop having that conversation, the chaos and misery that apathy and complacency brings. For far too long this conversation has been dominated by a very vocal minority of leftist ideologues and their sycophants in the popular media. (It's little wonder why they are so hell bent on clamping down on the interwebs..) So lets all say it together, real loud, over and over again:

America! Fuck Yeah!

Thanx to those of you who have visited, and a big hat-tip to those of you who visit frequently and add your own perspective to RtR. I'm talking to you Deiterle, my good friend The Duke, and those of you whom I know visit here often, haven't commented yet, but hopefully will introduce yourselves in the future.

~TUEBOR~

Yes Yes

I know I've been slacking, but it's really nice out and I've been spending a lot of time on the river. I will write something, about something, soon. I promise.

In the mean time, enjoy a little of the world as I've been viewing it...

They're Back!

It looks like the FCC, after getting shot down by the courts, is trying another tactic in the ongoing net neutrality fiasco.

"There is a real urgency to this because right now there are no rules of the road to protect consumers from even the most egregious discriminatory behavior by telephone and cable companies," said Markham Erickson, executive director of the Open Internet Coalition."

"...protect consumers from even the most egregious discriminatory behavior..."
That's funny, because I'm not aware of any "egregious discriminatory behavior". Are you?

It's been called a "Solution in search of a problem" and for good reason.

Read the whole thing here.

Lets Play A Game

Let's play a game.

You are the leader of Nation A. Nation A has a long and storied history of advancing basically every good thing that has ever happened to people. Your nations history is written in blood, yet when it reached the point of absolute dominion over every other nation in the world, it decided that instead of being an malignant empire, it would benign power. Unfortunately, that was long ago. Now, your nation, Nation A, is facing a perilous future, beset on all sides by enemies once thought destroyed and an active fifth-column which has worked tirelessly to transform Nation A into a socialist utopia.

Now, not all is bad with Nation A. I mean, don't get me wrong. Nation A is still the leader in basically everything. Your citizens are the freest in the world. Your economy, though currently suffering a series of catastrophic disasters, is still the strongest. Even your "poor" live lives that are on par with middle and upper classes in most places around the world. Your military might is basically unrivaled throughout the world. Even your closest competitor, Nation C, doesn't have the strength militarily or economically to rival you. For now.

None the less, things are all going in the wrong direction, or at least, facing the wrong direction. Your economy is on the precipice, you have discovered that your allies aren't really allies at all, and your fifth column has succeed in not only alienating the few remaining real allies you have, but in turning a good portion of your population into mindless drones over the last several decades.

Let's look at the major challenges you face one by one. You are tasked with trying to fix each of these problems:

1.)Your Economy. Based on the "free market" model, your economy has brought better lives to more people than any other economic model in human history. It's not perfect, but it gets the job done. Unfortunately the fifth-column has succeeded in turning your free market into the enemy. It has managed to ingrain it, (the economy) with the centralized bureaucracy so tightly that it seems impossible to separate them. Nation A is currently experiencing a series of economic catastrophes brought about by the fifth-columns activities. You must revitalize your economy, and reverse the trend by the fifth-column towards a fascist-socialist economic model.

2.)Your Borders. Your nation is literally a nation of immigrants. However, those immigrants founded a Republic based on the rule of law. None the less, your immigration laws have been largely ignored. Your southern most neighbor, Nation M, is currently in the midst of a civil war that is pouring across a poorly monitored and defended southern border into Nation A. Millions of illegals from Nation M sneak into your country every year, wreaking havoc on your infrastructure and your economy. Not wanting to be another failed isolationist, you must figure out a way to keep the good immigrants coming in, while stopping the bad ones.

3.)Your Military. Your military is the greatest military in all of human history. From its foundation as a rag-tag army of free men who fought of their own accord, to the preeminent force on the globe today, its second to none. You have invested gazillions, (yes, in your world gazillions is really a unit of measurement for money:) in military technology. You can literally strike any target on the planet within hours. You army is still comprised of free volunteers. Their weapons systems are unrivaled anywhere. Your military has defeated the forces of tyranny in two successive global wars, destroyed the forces of communism after a long "cold war" and has recently carried off two full scale invasion/occupasions with a relatively low casualty count, (relative in the sense of cold military history). Unfortunately Nation A's military has been used as the worlds police force, a precarious, "no win" situation is there ever was one, and has seen some embarrassing withdrawals from conflicts which served to emboldened your enemies. Even your investments in technology have become your Achilles heal, with your reliance on it threatening to be your undoing with the literal click of a button. You must design a better strategy for the use of your military, find a way to destroy your enemies, and figure out how to keep your technology an advantage, instead of a weakness.

4.)Your People. The people of Nation A are a mixture from every culture on the planet. They are basically "fat and happy" as the saying goes, and are largely want for nothing. They are a free people, or at least, more free than most other people. Unfortunately, you've discovered that over the last several decades, "freedom" has come to mean something different to your people than what it originally meant. "Freedom" is now equated with "freedom from want". Like all wealthy societies, Nation A is facing a rot in its very heart: the people. You must figure out a long term and short term solution to this, and help your people become truly free again.

5.)Your Fifth-Column. Perhaps more than any other threat you face, your fifth-column is the most dangerous. They have succeeded in doing more damage to Nation A than any other force. They are ingrained into every aspect of your nation; the economy, the borders, the military, the infrastructure, and the people.
But who, or what, is the fifth-column? Your fifth-column is made up of people who really don't believe in the principles upon which Nation A was founded. They long for the authoritarian efficiency of tyranny, with some disagreement among them as to whether it should be a hard tyranny or a soft tyranny. The soft tyranny seems to have won the debate; most likely a tactical decision by the fifth-columnists based on Nations A's history of a free people. The fifth-column has managed to subvert personal liberty and replace it with a state-sponsored "nannyship". A good portion of your people could care less, as the education system has become so co-opted by fifth-columnists that the meaning of words themselves has been changed. "Freedom" equals "Freedom from want", "God" equals "oppression", "Companies" equal "tyranny", and "Tyrannical government" is now your "friend". The fifth-columnists will stop at nothing to fundamentally change Nation A into their idea of a "Utopian" society; a docile population controlled by a small number of authoritarian techno-crats who administer every aspect of the peoples lives. They will fight you in every attempt to set your nation back upon the course to prosperity and freedom. For the people of Nation A to survive, you must find a way to destroy the fifth-column.

6.) Your Allies. Being the force for good that your nation is, your allies largely reflect the same values. At least, they used to. All nations put their own self interest first; there's nothing wrong with that. However, you've discovered that your "allies" interests have made a left turn somewhere and Nation A, as a force for good, largely stands alone. Once the leader of impressive global coalitions fighting first the fascists and then the communists, you now find yourself in the position of having to beg, borrow, and barter for even the most minor cooperation. To top it all off, one of your greatest true allies, Nation I, is facing an increasing threat from its neighbors and the fifth-column, (ever so good at making things mean their opposites) has managed to turn Nation I into the bad guy. Nation I will most likely be the recipient of a full scale invasion by its religo-fascist neighbors soon, but you're not sure you can rally your people to its defense. You must find a way to help your Allie, Nation I, while at the same time serving notice to the rest of your "allies" that friendship is a two way street.

7.)Your Infrastructure Nation A is an amazing mixture of the industrial, technical. and agricultural. You have a massive communications system, transportation system, and industrial sector. You supply food and aid to a good portion or the world, both friend and foe. There is really nothing that your nation doesn't create. It takes a lot of energy to keep things working. Unfortunately, Nation A gets a large portion of its energy from other countries who use that income to fund interests that are quite contrary to yours. Nation A sits on massive and diverse natural resources, but doesn't take advantage of them. You must figure out a way to change this.

Other nations of note:

Formerly your greatest adversary, Nation R is now a dieing empire. It can't keep its own military funded, its people are in the midst of several epidemics, including a resurgence of tuberculosis, AIDS infection rates that rival the worst parts of the third world, starvation, and an economy that relies on the whims of a few wealthy politburo power players. To top it all off, Nation R doesn't have much of a future in the most literal sense; its people have stopped having children. The native population drops by about one quarter every generation or so, to be replaced by a growing number of foreign religo-fascists. What Nation R does have is an abundance of weapons to sell on the global market. Unfortunately it appears to only be wiling to sell them to your enemies. A massive nuclear stockpile, chemical weapons, and missile systems threaten to fall into the hands of those promising to use them on your allies, or worse, on you.

Nation C is perhaps your greatest economic and military threat. While Nation C has only a fraction of the military resources you have, it has learned how to exploit your Achilles heal, (your technology) and threatens to literally shut you down in any military conflict. On top of that, Nation C's economy, largely through shady and unsustainable practices, has grown dramatically over the last few decades. While being dependent upon the people of Nation A to keep its own economy working, Nation C at the same time seeks to bankrupt you by making involvement in regional affairs so costly that you either withdraw or collapse. Nation C, along with Nation R, actively supports your enemies abroad and your fifth-column at home, and is currently attacking your infrastructure with complex cyber attacks. You must check Nation C both economically and militarily.

Nation E is really made up of many smaller nations, all of which have banded together. Many of them were your "allies". Most notably, Nation B, which until recently was arguably your greatest Allie in the world. Having won your independence from Nation B in the early years of your history, you in turn helped save Nation B, (And most of the other Nation E countries) from the fascists in the global wars, and protected them from the communists during the "cold war". Alas, Nation B has been slowly turning her back on you, having been largely subverted by her own fifth-column, collapsing birthrates, and a massive influx on religo-fascist who play an ever growing part in her affairs. While still officially an Allie, Nation B can't really be relied upon for much anymore, and relations have been strained of late. The rest of the Nation E countries have either openly thrown in their lot against you, or have kept silent.

Non-State Actors Large empires using proxies to fight with each other is nothing new. However, since the global wars and the invention of nation killing nuclear weapons, the use of proxies has become the norm. Religo-fascists are an ancient threat to free societies, but they have been increasingly used as proxies through which your traditional enemies threaten and destabilize. It is a role the religo-fascists are more than happy to fill, as you are their number one target anyways. There are many nations around the world which are completely under the control of the religo-fascists, most notably, the countries where you buy your energy resources. However, some of the most violent and aggressive religo-fascist groups call no particular nation home and take up residence wherever they can. They have a variety of strategies, from outright combat to slow subversion. Nation A is currently decimating religo-fascist fighters in open warfare on several fronts. In the mean time, the religo-fascists have grown stronger in other areas, having managed to co-opt many of your former allies by abusing their "open" societies and out-breeding them. They have allied themselves with your fifth-column at home. As the sole remaining force for individual freedom in the world, you must stem the rising tide of religo-fascism.

Rules

On your domestic issues, it must be noted that your nation, Nation A, is a Constitutional Republic. In short, this means that you have a very specific framework from which you can mold and steer your society. Also, your people have a set of rights given them to them by God, which cannot be ignored or changed in any attempts to solve your problems domestically. Success in this arena is not as elusive as it seems. However, you will have to act on both a national level and a local level, while planning both short term and long term strategies.

On your foreign issues you have larger options. You can use economic leverage, diplomacy, or military might to solve your problems.

You may find that several of these issues can be addressed with one solution, or, that a solution to one issue may cause unwanted repercussions in others.

Good luck.

(Edit: I have been, and will continue to, work on my own answers to each of these problems. I will post my solutions when I believe I have satisfactorily addressed each issue.)

Great Internet Headline Of The Day

"Balls urges EU immigration limits"

"Labour leadership contender Ed Balls says immigration from within the EU needs to be more tightly controlled."

What a profound headline. Seriously. That is true on so many different levels.
You can read the whole article here if you want, but to be honest with you, the headline says it all...

Time Lock For A Blog

Does anyone have a time lock for a blog I can borrow? I was thinking that maybe if I lock myself out of here from 10 pm till about 11 am the next day, I wouldn't have to re-write these posts.

As The Lights Go Out Around The World...

Those who know me are aware of something that often presents itself as an annoyance: I am a veracious reader. It's not uncommon for me to stumble around the house, or campus, or most anywhere with a book in hand. Come to think of it, that may be the cause of another annoyance people have with me, (that I wasn't aware of until my better half made me aware of it); I am a "know-it-all". Alas, that is a tail for another time.

Back to the books. I usually juggle two or three books at a time. That's not to say I'm a genius, far from it. It's only to illustrate how into reading I am. I like to understand things and I like to know what I'm talking about. Now, that might disqualify me from a job at the White House criticizing Arizona's new immigration law, but so be it.

It's rare that I read a book that so captures my attention that all other books, regardless of subject, are put by the wayside. Last year that book was Mark Levin's "Liberty and Tyranny." This year it was Mark Steyn's "America Alone: The End Of The World As We Know It."

I first became aware of Steyn's book after perusing the "Uncommon Knowledge" archives over at the National Review.
I was a little behind the curve on this, as Steyn's book had come out a few years before. None the less, I was so taken aback by the subject matter that I hit the local Borders. Sadly, Borders had sold out their copies. A little online ordering later and I was eagerly checking the mail like a kid waiting for his Lone Ranger secret decoder ring.

When it finally arrived, I was not disappointed. In short, Steyn's book is a close examination of a subject which, more than any other, drives our societies and influences our history: demographics. Lets look at a quick example of how demographics drives societies and how changes in demographics have serious effects on all of us:

Have you been wondering of late as to why the usually "moderate" Turks have been making worthless nuke processing deals with Iranistan? Or, why they are sending blockade-running boats full of well armed "peace activists" full steam ahead towards the inevitable shoot-out with Israeli commandos? Could it have something to do with the fact that for the last couple decades, the Islamo-fascists in Turkey have been rapidly out-breeding their more moderate, "westernized" brethren?

Steyn's book examines these changes and their effects, both current and future. If a major demographic shift in a single nation can have such a dramatic influence on geo-politics, (think Turkey and the current hate Israel fest) what happens when an entire continent, (or an entire civilization for that matter) sees its own demographics change in such a fundamental way?

Below I have links to the five part series that the National Reviews Uncommon Knowledge did with Steyn. He lays out the book as only Steyn can, with a mixture of sound insight and gallows humor. Check them out, they're well worth your time.

They Come For The American Dream, The Give Us The American Nightmare

Those words spoken today by Jamiel Shaw, who's son, Jamiel Shaw II was gunned down by illegal gang-banger Pedro Espinoza. Espinoza has a criminal record stretching back to his early youth, and had been released from the county jail one day before murdering the younger Shaw, a star football player with a promising future.

Shaw's father pleaded with the LA County board of Commissioners not to enact a boycott of the state of Arizona. Arizona's new immigration law would require law enforcement to inquire about a persons immigration status, after having made contact on an unrelated police matter. It should be noted that Arizona's new law in no where near as intrusive as the established federal immigration law, which allows federal agents to stop, detain, and inquire about a persons immigration status at any time, and for no compelling reason. Those who are against the new Arizona law, and the rising tide of anti-illegal sentiment in the country, seem to be either ignorant of what the Arizona law actual says, or, are upset that there's an immigration law in the country that might actually be enforced.

Below are a list of links to sites chronicling the chaos that illegal immigrants have wrought on our nation.

I would respectfully request that readers, regardless of their position on the immigration issue, take some time to acquaint themselves with the real, human cost of illegal immigrants.

As noted at the top of the site, Philo's The Republic supports Arizona, and any other efforts to secure our borders, and ensure the safety of American citizens. As a father myself, I express the most sincere condolences to the parents of Jamiel Shaw II. I have tried to understand how it must feel, to raise a child, to put your heart and soul into their very being, and to have that stolen away. To discover after the fact, that your child would still be alive if not for the absolute disregard for our laws by a few political hacks is a weight I don't think I could bear. My prayers go out to the family of the younger Shaw, and to all the families and victim's of the crimes wrought upon us by illegal aliens.

Fear Spreads Among The P.I.G.S

Economists have warned that the crisis in Greece could spread to other European countries, and perhaps even cause another global meltdown. A series of violent demonstrations in Greece, brought on after the government cut benefits in the public sector sent markets reeling.

Now it would appear that the the civil unrest witnessed in Greece has indeed begun to spread to the other European nations with the worst economic standing. Known (somewhat ironically) as the "PIGS"; Portugal, Italy, Greece, and Spain are all considered to be in serious economic trouble. Anger at the Italian governments proposal to cut public sector benefits turned to protests outside Italy's parliament in Rome.

"Waving banners, blowing whistles and chanting "Shame!", hundreds of public service workers rallied outside Italy's parliament in Rome to protest against the austerity package announced by the centre-Right government of Silvio Berlusconi...Its combined national debt is among the largest in Europe, on a par with Greece, standing at 118 per cent of GDP - in other words, Italy owes more than its entire economy produces in a year..." (Read the rest here)

One has to wonder how long it will be before the throngs of angry old ladies begins to turn into mobs of black hooded anarchists. And how much longer before Spain, with its 20% (!) unemployment starts to see angry crowds in its own streets?

Korean Peninsula Heats Up

South Korean navy begins anti-sub exercises after NORK subs "disappear". North Korea threatens immediate attack if maritime border crossed. And to top it all off, the Russians are sending massive naval reinforcements to the North Koreans for what they claim is a naval exercise (scheduled prior to the current conflict of course...).

Hard to call this one. One would think that if the South Koreans were going to do something about the blatant declaration of war against them, they would have done it by now. Oh, did I mention that the CHICOMS are promising to block any UN sanctions against the NORKS?

(Update: "SINGAPORE, June 5 (Xinhua) -- South Korean President Lee Myung- bak said Saturday here that there will be no full-scale war on the Korean Peninsula despite rising tensions over there."

One of these days I'll start listening to my gut. I knew from the time the South Koreans ran to the Useless Nations that they were looking for a non-violent out. Then, some major blustering by us, and Russia, China, and the usual suspects, and it was beginning to look like maybe war after all. I should have known better...)

What's News Today?

So, what has been going on of late?

~(Note: This entry has been recently updated and edited.) Possible war in the Korean Peninsula? Word has leaked out that crazy Kim, the NORK dictator has ordered his army to prepare for war.
(New Updates)Just over the wire: South Koreans have expelled all NORK workers from joint North/South Korean industrial complex at border...South Korean ships in joint US military exercise along border of NORK waters...South Korean ships in NORKS waters...NORK cuts all ties with South, expels diplomats...South begins pre-invasion propaganda campaign via loudspeakers at DMZ...developing...
(Looks like I greatly underestimated the South Koreans resolve....)

~On the domestic front, Arizona governor Jan Brewer has come out swinging over the recent Arizona immigration laws. Check out this one:

Gov. Brewer is the the kind of politician we need around here. Good God, If only we could get her to move to Michigan! Keep up the good fight Brewer! Give em no quarter.
Drop by and give them your support.

~On a related note, Mexico released a thinly veiled threat in form of an ad in the Arizona Republic:

Alas, hackers have entered the immigration fray, changing electronic road signs to display "No Latinos, No Tacos". Personally, I thought the Zombie signs were better.

~The economy is still in the in the dumps, with any signs of hope quickly wiped away by new problems. The stock market was well under ten thousand when I woke up today and the European welfare states seem to be on the precipice.

On a happy note, it's beautiful out and me thinks it's time to head outdoors.

Big Dick's Place Gone Galt?

Sad day in the blogospere. Apparently Big Dick, the proprietor of Big Dicks Place has gone offline. For how long? I have no idea. Hopefully not too long. I actually got into this blogging stuff after asking Dick how one goes about such things. I ran into him on the TVPC message board and enjoyed watching him smack some "truckbook" guy around. I checked out the BDP link and thought, "Hey, this looks kind of fun.".
A few emails with BDP latter and here I am.

Hopefully we'll get more of BDP's no-holds-barred insight and take-no-prisoners point of view soon. Either way, Here's to you BDP

Arizona Law Leads Administration To Dilemma

If the federal government is considering legal action against Arizona, for preempting the federal immigration laws, wouldn't they also have to take legal action against all the "sanctuary cities" as well? Just askin....

I was thinking the other day. If illegals were strongly "right-leaning" Like the majority of legal immigrants from all around the world are, would the left be so hot and heavy for them?

That lead me to another thought: Alan Colmes on FOX news said the other day that America should have an "open borders" policy. He claims that if they come up here, but can't find work, they'll go home. What if they come here looking for work but find instead a massive cradle to grave social infrastructure? Why go back home when you can live here on welfare, food stamps and free medical care?

If nothing else, the lefties are always good for a laugh...

Is Media Matters.org Withholding Or Scrubbing Opposing Viewpoints From Their Website?

(Edit: Spare me the face palm and the "Doh!" I knew how this was gonna end when I started it...)

After Joining mediamatters.org, I posted four comments on four different web articles. After each post I was informed that as a new member, each of my posts had to be cleared by an administrator prior to being posted on the site. Fair enough.
That was two days ago. None of my posts were ever allowed on the site. While they were all listed under the "My Comments" tab on the "myMediaMatters" last night, they have all been scrubbed from "mediaMatters" as of now (3 days later).

"myMediaMatters" is a users personal page, where among other things, a listing of all the users comments posted and awaiting approval are stored. Alas, several comments were posted to the same articles by other users, long after I had submitted comments.

It is important to note, that none of my comments violated even the most ambiguous reading of mediamatters.org's Terms of Use and none of them came close to "trolling", especially as compared to some of the hateful, vitriolic posts that were allowed onto the site.

My attempted contributions to Media Matters:

~One comment was on the alleged "Gotcha" tweet sent by a commentator at a right-wing website, regarding Obama's SCOTUS nominee. Media Matters swallowed the obviously bogus tweet, which according to other websites was sent for the purpose of seeing which left-wing commentator would run with it.

~Another comment discussed the history of the southern democrats involvement in slavery, and many democrats opposition to the civil rights bills passed in the 1960's. This was posted on an article claiming Rush Limbaugh supported slavery.

~A third comment gave some of the technical details of "Net Neutrality" which is a subject I am well versed in, and it's effects on Internet, on an article claiming Glenn beck was lying about "Net Neutrality".

~A fourth comment was in response to a blatantly racist comment made by a black poster on the above mentioned article about Obama's SCOTUS nomination. The comment was something along the lines of : "As long as there's no old white men on the court..." My response to the comment?: "Hmmm, racist much? Epic Racial Irony FAIL".

I am obliged to believe that this is not a technical issue, although I am waiting for a response to the inquiry I sent on the matter (Five days later).

In their Terms of Use, mediamatters.org explicitly states:

"We are committed to providing a forum where anyone, from anywhere on the political spectrum, can address and respond to the work we do."

From the comments I observed on several of their articles, they simply do not practice what is stated in the above opening to their Terms of Use. I couldn't find a single opposing viewpoint on any article I viewed.

(Update: So, after a few respectful emails, that no one at media matters had the balls to reply to, and a few more attempts to get a non-trolling comment through, I was wholly unsuccessful.

Well, not wholly. I did manage to get one comment through:
"Glenn Beck had to apologize for claiming Van Jones Was a felon, which he is not."

Yep, that's it, (It was posted to their website within hours). Now, of course this is not a surprise to anyone who's ever had to deal, in any way, with the far left propaganda machine. However, it illustrates a point that I think should be noted.

Namely, the amount of time, effort, manpower, and money the left puts into information manipulation. There are thousands and thousands of right-wing blogs and websites that are run with little, if any cost. Media Matters has an entire full time staff, just to mess around with this one website. And for what? So they can keep an alternative viewpoint of the Interwebs?

More importantly, to what purpose does that serve if the alternative viewpoint is widely acknowledged and believed by the target populace anyways?

Almost 2,500 times, (Myself not included) people have viewed the information I have posted here. Grand total cost to me? $0.00. And that's just me, on this one sorry little corner rant, with no staff, no help from friends of Obama, no $$$$. Just the information I can find in my spare time. And that's really the point of this entire exercise.

History may be written by the victors, but the victors can only claim the world is flat for so long before people start to say, "Uh, what?". Propaganda machines like Media Matters can get away with it for awhile, and there will always be a small group who agrees no matter what they say, but eventually they will be propagandizing that small group which wants to be propagandized anyways.

Congratulations Media Matters! You win! What's the prize? A bunch of intellectually lobotomized sycophants! Good luck with that. ~Philo)

America, Mexico, And The American South West

~The first major migration of Europeans from America to the land now known as Texas came at the invitation of the Mexico herself.

~Mexicans were largely unwilling to live in the area now known as Texas, and it was hoped that some economic enterprise could be established there by filling the area with European immigrants instead. This was accomplished by offering European immigrants large land grants.

~European immigrants to northern Mexico (American South West) had to accept certain conditions:
1.) They had to convert to Catholicism.
2.) They had to conduct all official business in Spanish.
3.) They could not settle within 60 miles of what was then the American border.

~The system quickly fell apart. European immigrants who were non-Catholics refused to convert to Catholicism, few of the immigrants spoke Spanish, (let alone wrote it for official purposes), and many new European immigrants to Mexico owned slaves.

~Mexico had abolished slavery, but looked the other way when European slave owners settled there.

~These issues all led to growing conflict between the remote administration in central Mexico, and the European settlers in the Texan territories. Finally, in 1830, European settlers formed the Texan-American independence movement, claiming their rights to do so under the Mexican Constitution.

~In response to the Europeans settlers actions, the Mexican government sent General Santa Anna north with a large army of 6,000 troops. European settlers responded by founding the Republic of Texas and elected Tennessee native Sam Houston as their president.

~After his costly victory at the Alamo, (Estimates of his losses from that siege alone range from 1/4 to 1/3 of his total force.) General Santa Anna was routed at the battle of San Jacinto. Texans lost 9 soldiers, but the Mexican army lost an astounding 630.

~General Santa Anna was soon captured, along with 730 of his troops. In return for his freedom and the freedom of his troops, General Santa Anna ceded all of the Texas territory over to Same Houston's government. However, as soon as General Santa Anna was safely home, he went back on his agreement. The conflict was far from settled.

~The Republic of Texas officially requested to join the United States. Martin Van Buren, unwilling to expand slave holding lands in America stalled the bill to allow the Republic of Texas entry to the United States in the House of Representatives and the US Senate rejected the annexation treaty. Texas would remain an isolated Republic, with leaders of both major American political parties agreeing they would only consider the annexation if Mexico agreed to it.

~In an election largely regarded as a referendum on the annexation of Texas, the American people elected James Polk as president. Polk was strongly in favor of annexing Texas, and circumventing the Congressional process, offered Texas the chance to join the United States.

~ On December 29, 1845 The Republic of Texas became the State of Texas and Mexico quickly broke off all diplomatic ties to America.

~President Polk sent General Zachary Taylor to fight the war, which most Mexican and European observers thought Mexico would quickly and easily win, with some claiming the Mexican army would reach Washington D.C. in less than six weeks.

~General Taylor's army contained some notable officers who would themselves become prominent men in time. Among them were Ulysses Grant, Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and William Sherman.

~After crushing Mexican General Arista's forces at Palo Alto the American forces won another one-sided victory at Resaca de la Palma. Meanwhile, President Polk negotiated to bring then-exiled Mexican leader, General Santa Anna, back to Mexico. Santa Anna promised that if Polk helped him regain power in Mexico, he would agree to a treaty favorable to the United States. However, no sooner than Santa Anna re-entered Mexico, he declared he would fight the Americans to the death.

~General Taylor's army, by then known as "gringos" because of the song they sung, "Green Grows the Lilacs", continued to crush Mexican forces on his march south.

~Simultaneous attacks and victories against Mexican soldiers in California and Texas finally forced the Mexicans to surrender.

~Despite the intentions of President Polk, and democrats, American negotiators had no intentions of taking over Mexico wholesale. Polk had ordered as much, but his head negotiator, Nicholas Trist, simply ignored the order.

~Instead of following President Polk's orders and making all of Mexico another American territory, Trist agreed to the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The treaty paid Mexico 15 million dollars for California, set the America-Mexican border at the Rio Grande River, and annexed a large swath of mostly uninhabited land that encompasses modern-day Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Nevada.

Truth About Native America And The Effects Of European Colonisation

There has been a persistent myth in American culture that Native Americans were a populous, thriving, peaceful people who's Utopian existence was destroyed by the bloodthirsty white European invaders. Listed below are some facts that give a much more realistic insight into Native American life, and the effects of European colonization.

According to the most current and in depth archaeological and anthropological evidence:

1.) Far from the popular estimates of 50-60 million Native Americans, pre-European migration, the number is in reality somewhere between 8.5 million (highest estimate) and 1.8 million (lowest estimate). The popular, and inflated number, gives the impression that the much lower population figures recorded after the mass European migration were the result of European action.

2.) While Europeans did bring some illness from the old world to the new, it was not a one way street. Many highly contagious forms of diseases were brought home to Europe as well. The popular narrative of European illnesses wiping out vast Native American populations is also disingenuous. Native Americans lived in isolated tribal societies, often in conflict with their neighbors, thus making it difficult for an illness to spread outside of their own tribe.

3.) One startling discovery coming from the research on disease exchange between populations was this: Native American health overall, across the continent, was on a downward decline long before Columbus arrived.
Among the findings:
a.)Native Americans were consistently shorter than previous generations.
b.)Their bones show sings of long term exposure to a plethora of serious illnesses. c.)A marked increase in the graves of children.
All of these discoveries point to long-term societal stagnancy and malnutrition.

4.) Native Americans did not live in a state of perpetual peace with each other. In fact they were often at war with each other, with some large tribes being so dangerous to their neighbors that large coalitions of smaller and weaker tribes were created so the smaller tribes could survive.

5.) Large parts of what we now consider to be "America" were almost completely depopulated over one hundred years before Columbus ever stepped foot on western shores. Particularly in the American south west, where incursions of Mexican Natives and diseases caused many groups to leave, or disappear completely.

6.) While it is indisputable that Native Americans suffered major mistreatment at the hands of some Europeans, especially during the big push west, it must also be recognized that many of Native American tribes actively engaged with European settlers when it gave them an advantage over their traditional Native American enemies, both in combat, and in the acquisition of their enemies land and resources.

As it has been across the great expanse of human history, one more advanced society slowly pushed out, or assimilated, the less technical, stagnant society. The mass European migration to the Americas should be viewed as such.

Obey, What An Ironic Name For A Liberal

"Chairman David Obey announced today he will not seek re-election, citing fatigue and a desire to step aside after more than 40 years in the House."

Yeah, I bet being an abrasive, uptight, classless clown really takes a lot out of you after awhile.

Here's some wisdom from House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey (D-Wis.):
"If violence is decreasing in Iraq, it may be because insurgents “are running out of people to kill,”

Makes me sad to know that I won't have to listen to this clown waste our time on C-Span anymore....

Um, What?

"Graham said he would envision creating a special court similar to that of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court for electronic surveillance. Law enforcement officials could appear before a judge of the special court to get permission to withhold rights from a citizen while they are interrogated...He said he wanted to create a separate category of citizens who are deemed enemy combatants..."

Fuck You Mayor Bloomberg

You know, I've made a conscious effort to slowly steer this little blog away from lunch room brawl time, while trying to explore issues with a little more thought and clarity.

I am going to voluntarily suspend that effort now however, in response to one of the most despicable, un-American, sickening things I've ever heard or seen.

We all know what happened in Times Square, New York. For those of you who have missed it, it was a plot by a Paki-American who parked a car bomb in Times Square.
(Surprise! Contrary to early reports that is was a 40'ish white guy.)

But how many of you know that right now, as we speak, Bloomberg and his head Cop are rallying Congress to "close the terrorist gap" in America's gun laws.

Yep, that's right. Mayor Bloomberg and his cronies are asking that America's gun laws becoming even more restrictive. They sited, among others, a car bombing and a case in which the terrorist shot several people with his military issued weapon(s).

Mayor Bloomberg, I mean this with the utmost sincerity: Fuck You. You are a despicable partisan hack, who seeks to push a political agenda, refuted by every bit of information available, by framing our greatest of rights as an aid to terrorists.

Fuck You Bloomberg. I fear more than ever for the citizens of New York knowing that an ignorant son of a bitch like you is supposed to be looking out for them.

(Update: Senator Graham stating his concerns over American's 2nd Amendment rights. Every time I start to really dislike Graham, he starts to make me like him. Then, he makes me not like him again. Cut It Out Graham!)

A Little Bit Of History: Jackson And The Myth Of The Bank Wars

I've been working on some papers on early US history and how it's widely misunderstood. The series of work covers everything from early European-Native American interactions to current day issues. It is a work in progress.

If any of the few remaining readers of this little blog have any questions on US history, please let me know. While being rather dense overall, I am somewhat adept in US history studies :)

Below is a piece on Andrew Jackson and his legendary war with the centralized banking system.

Andrew Jackson's legendary fight against a centralized bank has become the stuff of legend. His comments and actions have become fodder for everything from commercials advocating gold purchases to conspiracy theories.

But in reality, Andrew Jackson didn't have an issue with a centralized bank, unless it was run by one of his political opponents. Far from the small government advocate he has been portrayed as, "Old Hickory" institutionalized some of the worst aspects of the federal government, including the spoils systems and a greatly increased budget. More than any president before him, Jackson consolidated power in the executive branch.

Jackson's war with the BUS (Bank of the US) stemmed from the fact that it's president, Nicholas Biddle, was in a position to fund Anti-Jacksonian politicians. Prior to becoming the head of the BUS, Biddle had served as the U.S. minister to France. He was wealthy, well educated and well spoken. He was also, by all accounts, an outstanding bank administrator. He ran the BUS with such acumen that the state chartered banks overwhelmingly supported the BUS being rechartered. In short, Biddle knew how to make people money.

There is little evidence that Biddle supported anti-Jacksonian political candidates. He didn't have to. Simply being in a position where he could threatened Jackson, Biddle (and "his" BUS) were dangerous and had to be eliminated.

Jackson used his talents at inflaming populist anger to rally against the BUS, and the very idea of a centralized bank. Using such Inflammatory rhetoric as "The bank is trying to kill me, but I will kill the bank." roused the sentiment that people more wealthy than the common man were evil and dangerous.

Upon being elected as president, Jackson promptly ordered the withdrawal of all US monies from the BUS. This was a blatantly unconstitutional move, and subsequently Jackson had two Treasurers refuse. Not until he appointed Roger B. Taney did he get his wish. Taney, a long time Jackson loyalist, was awarded a spot on the Supreme Court for his loyalty. Jackson had the US monies moved to a series of smaller banks, who's officials all had supported his political career, establishing a "spoils system" that endures to this day.

Jackson's "spoils banks" were hardly more reliable than a strong centralized bank. With the Texas revolt Mexican silver all but disappeared from the international market. The silver had fueled commerce in Europe, particularly in England. The lack of Mexican silver created inflation in America, but worse, it caused England to raise it's interest rates. The combination of price inflation domestically and the spike in interests rates from her prime lender spun the American economy into a tailspin. Jackson's banks were incapable of stopping the economic decline. Whether Biddle's BUS would have fared any differently will never be known. By then it operated only in limited capacity in Philadelphia.

It is vital to understand that Jackson, despite his claims, never sought to eliminate a centralized bank. He sought to replace one national banking institution, (the BUS) with another one that was even more centralized, (And run by pro-Jacksonians), a "A bank with a branch in each state, entirely national..."(!)

Jackson was ultimately successful in dismantling the BUS. But his reasons for doing so are widely misunderstood. Jackson was a president that would fit right into American politics today. Brash, outspoken, ambiguous, and power hungry, Andrew Jackson destroyed a stable US banking system for political gain, and in doing so acted as the very thing he rallied against.

I Promise

I will post some more stuff soon. Just been too busy of late....

In the mean time, enjoy these cartoons of the prophet Mohammad. Being that I am a free American, living in a free and open society, I will not fold like those despicable cowards over at comedy central.

Oh yeah, May 20th has officially become, "Draw Mohammad Day". Make sure you do your part. Feel free to steal these pics and post them everywhere you go, just like I have.

Recent Cyber Attacks Provide a Surprising Insight

It has been recently revealed that a group of Chinese hackers were successful in their attempt at a massive infiltration of Indian computer systems. One of the most interesting things gleamed from the news is how joint Canadian and American teams were able to "hack the hackers" and expose the intrusions:

"By gaining access to the control servers used by the second cyber gang, the researchers observed the theft of a wide range of material, including classified documents from the Indian government and reports taken from Indian military analysts and corporations, as well as documents from agencies of the United Nations and other governments......"We snuck around behind the backs of the attackers and picked their pockets,” said Ronald J. Deibert, a political scientist who is director of the Citizen Lab, a cybersecurity research group at the Munk School. “I’ve not seen anything remotely close to the depth and the sensitivity of the documents that we’ve recovered."

This points to a hypothesis I've had on the subject for some time. Is it really true that the western nations are so woefully behind Chinese cyber-warfare capabilities? Or, could another factor be fostering the perception that when it comes to all things cyber-centric, the CHICOMS rule the roost?

My theory is that the CHICOMS are not able to operate with relative impunity in this field. Rather, the nature of their secretive society gives the impression that it is all give and no take between them and western nations. In free and open societies like America we all know when a massive DDoS attack puts the Secretary of State offline, or the president's Facebook page gets hacked. Judging from the average coverage in the global press this certainly seems to be a one-sided battle.
I personally think that this is far from the case, as the above report implies. It is much more likely that the CHICOMS are as vulnerable, (if not more so) than the west is in these matters.
While attacks against the United States, such as "Titan Rain" and the infamous "Code Red" are the stuff of cyber legend, one has to wonder how many "Code Red"'s the CHICOMS themselves have been the victim of.
